I honestly forgot I had this thing. In 2011, my family and I went to D.C., and we went to see Wicked at the Kennedy Center. On sale was this book, which is a complete illustrated guide to the making of Wicked the Musical. It’s over 150 pages long, and explains everything from the beginning drafts to the sheet music to set designing and costuming. It eventually became one of the cool things on my shelf, and I all but forgot about it. These are a tiny fraction of the many many amazing pages.

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Thor and Loki are the gender-fliped Glinda and Elphaba. Know what I mean?

:EXPLODES WITH HOW I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE:
ahahaha. So appropriate. One is popular and blonde and fights for good and gets a position of power, the other spent their whole life wishing to be respected and make a difference and be equal to others, and in the end she has to go off as a sort of vigilante rebel and the only person who still sees hope in her is GLINDA OH MY GOD YES SO APPROPRIATE I LOVE YOU
Bonus: Loki and Elphie both have exciting skin colors they are ashamed of. EEEEEE

TOP TEN FAVORITE MUSICALS —> #3 Wicked
So if you care to find me / Look towards the western sky / As some one told me lately / Everyone deserves the chance to fly! / And if I’m flying solo / At least I’m flying free / To those who ground me / Take a message back from me / Tell them how I am defying gravity / I’m flying high defying gravity! / And soon I’ll match them in renown / And nobody in all of Oz / No wizard that there is or was / Is ever gonna bring me down!

Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth at the 2004 Tony Awards
Idina: I am so proud to be in a musical that celebrates women, that celebrates their strengths and their differences, and to be in the company of these women this evening is just a dream for me, thank you so much. And Kristin Chenoweth, you are the grace and the light on that stage every night…this is something we built together and I love you!
